LISTED building consent has been granted to demolish a school building to provide a green play area and garden for neighbouring school in Sale.
St Paul’s 19th century vicarage, on Springfield Road, will be knocked down to provide a green space for the pupils at Springfield Primary School.
The plot will be used for a playing field and a garden, where the pupils will learn about growing fresh food.
The school would like to open up the garden to the community and also create a sensory garden.
Planning committee member, Cllr Phil Gratrix, said: “There is a lack of green space at this school.
“If we can provide some green space by removing that ugly building, it should happen as soon as possible.”
St Paul’s Church, on Springfied Road, is a listed building and the vicarage is considered to be a ‘curtilage listed’ structure.
