There is just one day left to be in with a chance of winning £10,000 at two Greene King pubs in Bolton as well as a nearby boozer in Bury.

The giveaway, set up by Ice Breaker Pale Ale, launched a survey to find out whether Brits thought beer tasted better in a beer garden when they are sat outdoors.

The data found that 89 per cent agreed with this.

Alongside uncovering the beer garden as the perfect spot for making a drink taste better, the ideal time to consume a drink for maximum enjoyment has been revealed to be 6pm, with 20 per cent of Brits choosing this as the optimum time.

The research has been conducted by Ice Breaker Pale Ale – an ale, brewed by national brewery and pub company, Greene King.

As part of the "Scan The Anchor" competition by Ice Breaker, customers will be in with a chance of winning £10,000 if they purchase a pint or bottle of Ice Breaker Pale Ale and scan the anchor on the logo.

They will then be directed to a competition entry page where customers can fill in a few quick details for the chance to win.

The competition will close at midnight on Thursday, August 31.

The pubs across Bolton and Bury participating are:

  • The Flag Inn on Arnold Road, Egerton.
  • Rose and Crown on Cockey Moor Road, Bury.
  •  Hare and Hounds on Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom.

Will Hemmings, brewing and brands marketing director at Greene King, said: “We believe Ice Breaker tastes brilliant wherever and whenever you choose to enjoy it, with the summer months offering the perfect time to enjoy a pint in a British beer garden.

“Whether it’s an after-work drink or the beer garden that adds to that perfect pint experience, the first sip of Ice Breaker really says it all.

“Bursting with juiciness and tropical fruit flavours, Ice Breaker is the beer to choose this summer and who knows you may even get a fantastic £10,000 prize for doing so.”
