Three teenagers were arrested after a suspected shooting in the centre of Stretford.

The emergency services were called to Edge Lane at 4.40pm yesterday (March 26).

Police said three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of affray, the possession of a bladed article and the possession of drugs and were taken into custody.

It came after reports of a suspected shooting towards a vehicle but there were no reports of any injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Lowe, of GMP Trafford, said: "We understand incidents of this nature will cause concerns for those living in this area. However we believe this incident to be a targeted attack with no threat to the community.

"Extra resources have been deployed around the local area both on foot and in patrol cars. If you have any concerns about this incident our officers will be happy to provide reassurance and to listen to any of your queries.

“While we have made arrests, we are looking to understand the circumstances and the timeline of events leading up to this incident. We encourage anyone with any information – or CCTV, dashcam footage or doorbell footage – to contact police."
