CORRIE actress and Altrincham woman Sally Whittaker will be raising funds for Francis House Children’s Hospice when she takes part in the Wilmslow half marathon in March.
Sally reports she’s been training hard since mid-January, and at the moment is averaging around six miles per session with her next door neighbour, Alison Irving.
“The last time I entered a race was at primary school and that was with and egg and spoon, so up until recently I would have laughed at the thought of running 13 miles,” she said.
“In just under a month I’m already running six miles although the thought of running more than twice that distance is a bit scary at the moment, but I’m enjoying the exhilarating feeling it gives me and the thought of letting people down if I don’t do it.”
She added: “To spur me on I decided to run for Francis House and once I had phoned the hospice I knew there was no going back. I’ve seen the great work they do for so many families and children and I think of them when it gets tough.
“Deciding to support the hospice has been a great motivator on cold, wet days and an extra bonus is the incentive I’ve had from my own family who say they’re proud of me for having a go.”
