LEE Sinnott and his Altrincham players may be taking a well-earned break, after safeguarding their place in the Vanarama Conference, but there is no rest for the club's Ladies squad, as they prepare to step on to the international stage this weekend.
Keith Edleston's side are cock-a-hoop at being selected as ideal opponents by the Isle of Man FA, as the Manx Ladies team continue their build-up to next month's Island Games, a global tournament for small islands held every two years.
IoM bosses wrote to Edleston, asking whether he could pencil in a friendly ahead of the latest Games in Jersey, and the Alty Ladies manager was only too happy to oblige.
Fresh from a 3-1 win over Runcorn Linnets Ladies, Alty will take on their Isle of Man counterparts at Clay Lane in Timperley this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
They are relishing the challenge, too, according to Edleston, who said: "It's a massive honour for our team, and a coup for the club in general, to be asked to play in such a prestigious game.
"It has been a terrific season, full of great performances and excellent football, and we couldn't have wished for a better way of marking it than playing against an international team.
"We are looking forward to it immensely and hoping as many supporters as possible get down to the ground to cheer us on. It should be a great day."
n Elsewhere, Altrincham Under-14s girls beat Wythenshawe 3-1 in the Division A league cup final last week.
Wythenshawe took the lead after five minutes and dominated possession for most of the first half.
But the u14s got back into it when Maddy McKay scored an equaliser just before the break.
Maddy Moryusseff put Altrincham ahead in the 50th minute and she doubled her tally with 18 minutes left on the clock.
Moryusseff won the girl of the match award.
Meanwhile, the u14s are currently top of the South Manchester U15s league with only Wythenshawe able to beat them with two games in hand.
On the same day, the u15s defeated Bury 1-0 in the Division B final.
