There hasn’t really been much opportunity for me to sing throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, except for my socially distanced 24 hour swing-a-thon for the Alzheimer’s Society.
I appreciate that singing isn’t high on anyone’s priority list, but it is a major part of my life and I’ve really missed doing it.
So you can imagine how thrilled I was to perform again recently in front of a live audience.
Performing for the ‘Come Together Urmston’ concert was my first taste back at live singing and it was great to step back on a stage and blast out my repertoire of songs from the Great American Songbook on what was a fantastic event in bringing the community together again after what we’ve all been through with the pandemic, but it was my performance a few days later at Mulino in Urmston, where we celebrated Tony Bennett’s 95th birthday in style, where I really came back into my own again.
I’m like the saloon singers of yesteryear.
I love the intimacy of a close audience who have come specifically to listen to these beautiful songs that are ageless and expertly written.
I really believe that you can’t beat these kind of songs and it is an absolute honour and privilege for me to sing them. I feel really at home at Mulino.
Obviously most of the singers of the Great American Songbook are of Italian heritage so straight away its a good fit to perform in an Italian restaurant but it’s also a really nice and cosy setting for me to just relax and do what I love doing most, singing these wonderful standards.
Mulino doesn’t just feel like home to me, it is now my new musical home as I have taken up my residency again there singing on the first Tuesday of each month.
Beginning on Tuesday, September 7.
I will be performing two sets. The first is from 7.30pm to 8.15pm and my second set is from 8.45pm to 9.30pm.
To book your table you can pop in and make a reservation or telephone Mulino on 0161 286 7819.
I am really excited to share with you all the wonderful songs that I love to sing and hope you will come along to Mulino and join me in my new musical home on the first Tuesday of each month.
See you there!
