I'm looking for celebrationsJean Catherine Shield
Published on 04/11/2021
SHIELD Jean Catherine (nee Brown) It was with great sadness that we announced the passing of our Mum, Jean Shield, on February 3 this year. Daughter of Alan and Kate Brown she was born Jean Brown in 1932, sister to Neville, Ann, and David, she grew up in Priory Road, Bowdon and attended Altrincham Grammar school during the 1940's. An Architect, she lived as Jean Leyland at Broomfield Lane, Hale between 1967 and 1989 where she raised her two sons, Marcus and Guy. She was a dedicated bellringer at St Mary's Church, Bowdon. Following her marriage to John Shield on 1990, Mum moved to Barnsley where she enjoyed many happy years of life and travel with John until his passing in 2015. Earlier this year, Mum too passed away peacefully following a long and brave battle against dementia at Prospect House Nursing Home, Malpas. Mums funeral passed fleetingly during the COVID lockdown. We now would like to invite friends, neighbours, and family to celebrate a memorial service of interment for Mum at the Garden of Remembrance at St Mary's Church, Bowdon at 11:30 am on November 17. We shall be gathering at the nearby Stamford Arms for lunch following the ceremony. Please contact me at Marcus.leyland@icloud.com if you wish to attend, or have any questions about the day.
