THE Greater Manchester Police Authority (GMPA) is urging Trafford groups and charities focused on providing services for the community, to apply for grants.
The grants come from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), which is made up of money received from property confiscated.
GMPA's chairman Derek Osbaldestin explained: "We are particularly keen to award grants to projects that are aimed at improving community cohesion between different ethnic groups, particularly involving young people, and schemes that help to prevent and reduce the fear of crime."
"We aim to make this money available to independent groups, those not associated with a national body. We give each application individual attention."
He added: "In exceptional circumstances, as in a very deserving cause, a much larger amount can be made available."
The closing date for applications is January 31, 2007. For further information contact the PPAF on 0161 793 3851 or email Melanie.Tomlinson@gmpa.gov.uk
