A RESIDENTS group say they are concerned the Woodheys Park row could set a damaging precedent for other parks in the area.
The group - representing residents living on Victoria Road, next to Moor Nook Park in Sale - say they are happy to have security fencing that 'shuts them out' in the evening.
A spokesman for 'Victoria Road Vandalism' explained: "I'd like to remind people that the Messenger reported our plight against a constant barrage of vandals running over and scratching cars, something that went on for months.
"We worked with the council and police to ensure that the gate separating our street and the park would deter this route.
"This has been a huge success and I would hate to think about the gate being re-opened in light of the reports from Woodheys Park."
Janette Pilkington, from Trafford council's area services team, said: "I have checked with our parks and countryside service.
"They tell me they have a number of sites around the borough which are locked at night including the Victoria Road entrance to Moor Nook Park.
"There are no plans to alter this at present; the issues relating to Woodheys is a site specific problem."
