THE Urmston Partnership is a non-profit, self funding organisation formed to help tackle everyday issues that affect the town centre and to promote Urmston.
It involves local businesses, major retailers, developers and landowners, residents, community groups, schools, representatives from Trafford Council and other statutory organisations working together to ensure the town centre remains a vibrant area.
The Partnership is a recognised representative organisation for Urmston businesses. All monies raised are spent in Urmston on improvements and raising the town’s profile.
EVENTS
- Urmston Partnership’s Spring Fayre on April 20 was a huge success with more than 1,000 visitors. There were more than 20 stalls selling a variety of food, crafts and gifts and fantastic entertainment from local dance and drama groups.
- The partnership is planning an Autumn food Festival on Saturday, September 28. The main event will be held in Eden Square between 11am and 4pm with other activities taking place throughout the town centre.
- Urmston Partnership will be holding a Halloween spectacular in Eden Square on Thursday, October 31, from 5pm to 7pm.
- Urmston Partnership’s Christmas Lights Switch On event will take place on Friday, November 22. The event will start at the Christmas Tree on Queens Road followed by Santa’s procession to Eden Square where the festivities will continue.
TOWN CENTRE IMPROVEMENT
- The iconic town centre clock was re-installed on Flixton Road at the beginning of the year and a noticeboard will soon be installed next to the clock to provide local people with updates on town centre activities.
- Five local businesses including Urmston Bookshop, Sainsbury’s and Thomas Carter Opticians have sponsored trees planted along Flixton Road and Station Road.
- Kip McGrath Tuition Centre (Urmston) and Flixton Brownies are continuing to maintain Urmston Partnership’s colourful planters around the town centre.
NEW BUSINESSES
More than eight new businesses have opened in Urmston town centre since the New Year; these include:
- Grill at 27
- The Hair Bank
- Lily’s at Eden
- Indigo Sun
- Appliance World
- Adrian’s Barbershop
