POLICE in Trafford are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a pub in Ashton-on-Mersey today this morning.
At around 8.35 am two masked men, one of them possibly carrying a hammer, entered the Old Plough pub on Green Lane.
They threatened a male member of staff, assaulted him and demanded cash. However, the men left the premises empty-handed.
They drove off in a stolen black Audi A3 Sport which had earlier been stolen from Gatley in Stockport on Thursday, 30 November 2006.
The victim suffered a minor head wound in the incident.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Audi A3 between 30 November, 2006 and today.
