BRAINY teenagers from Altrincham Grammar School for Boys proved they were up to the test by coming out on top in the Greater Manchester Area Geographical Worldwide Quiz.
The year 11 students went head to head with pupils from 12 other schools in the region to demonstrate their geographical knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to current affairs and matters of global and local significance.
Sam Yarwood, Peter Skidmore and Phillip Loughlin gave up their lunch times in the preceding weeks to make sure they were up to scratch.
Tim Gartside, headteacher, said: "This was a really tough competition against some very well informed geographers from other schools.
"Sam, Peter and Phillip did really well to keep their nerve right to the end."
