A NUMBER of stars from Coronation Street are expected to attend the official opening of Altrincham's brand new Apollo Cinema tomorrow.
Trafford councillors and other local dignitaries will join them for a special preview screening of the animated film Happy Feet.
Speaking last week, cinema manager Nick McKiernan said everything was on schedule for the venue's red letter day.
"It's going to be absolutely superb and it's going to be ready on the 7th. The floor is going down in the foyer now and we've got industrial cleaners in, getting rid of all the dust ready for the VIP show on Thursday. People who have been invited can come in on Thursday, have a nice glass of champagne and it'll give people a chance to have a look behind the scenes and have a look at the lovely new cinema we've built in Altrincham," he said.
The cinema, which cost £2 million to build, has six screens and its opening marks the return of the big screen to Altrincham for the first time in more than 20 years.
