TRAFFORD Council will mark the anniversary of the First World War with a thought provoking programme of events and activities.
Leader of Trafford Council, Cllr Sean Anstee said: “100 years ago a generation of people faced the unimaginable horrors of the Great War. This included people who lived and worked in what is now Trafford and many of their stories are told through our commemorations.
We have worked alongside our partners and communities to create a series of activities across our borough as we stand together to honour and remember those who sacrificed so much.”
Activities include the unveiling of a blue plaque to Captain Edward Kinder Bradbury from Bowdon, who was awarded the Victoria Cross, and “Our heroes” a special exhibition at the Waterside Arts Centre.
The exhibition which runs from August 4 until November 11, includes artefacts donated by Trafford families whose ancestors lived through the war.
