STUDENTS at Wellacre Academy, Flixton, had a morning to remember as they collected their A-level results after a tense wait since the examinations in early summer.
The August rain may have been pouring, but the opening of the envelopes soon ushered in beaming smiles from the students.
Many pupils - in fact a record number at the academy - were hoping to match entry requirements for university places and will be attending a wide range of higher education establishments later this year.
95 per cent of Wellacre students achieved at least three A-level passes or vocational equivalent qualifications, with some really impressive individual achievements from some of the dedicated Wellacre students.
Daniel Elgueta was 'proud and delighted' with his results and is now going forward to read Japanese Studies at university.
Thomas Dotters, who achieved excellent, A-level results in graphics, history and psychology, said that is was with 'relief and excitement' that he opened his results today.
Tom is heading off to Leicester in September to study for a degree in Gaming Design.
Mr Carl Todd, Head of Sixth Form, said: “I am very proud of all the achievements of our young people here at Wellacre.
"Working with them has been an inspiration and a pleasure for me.
"I'd like to thank the students, our staff and the support from parents and carers in helping to make results day such a positive experience.
"I wish all of our leavers all the very best for the future and hope they will keep in touch with us at the Academy so I can be updated on their progress.
"I am delighted for all.”
