STAFF at St Bede’s College are 'extremely pleased' that its A-level results continue to improve.
This year’s students achieved even more grade A* and A passes than last year's impressive cohort.
The results were 12.7 per cent A*and 43.9 per cent A*-A.
The overwhelming majority of pupils will take up places at Russell Group Universities.
The acting headteacher, Mrs Pike, praised the students.
She said: “Pupils and staff are delighted at these first class results.
“Once again the achievement of the students, supported by staff and parents, will allow them to make university and career choices from a position of strength.
“The improvement in the highest grades is particularly gratifying in a year when nationally the grades have dipped slightly.”
Head of Sixth Form, Miss Curry, was equally pleased.
She said: “This is an Upper Sixth group who have combined academic endeavour with a quite outstanding contribution to the co-curricular life of the College.
"I wish them every success in the future and have no doubt that they will continue to make themselves and the College proud at university.”
