A RARE copy of the Manchester United Calypso will be auctioned this month.
The 78 rpm vinyl record, by Edric Connor with Ken Jones and His Music, will go under the hammer at Adam Partridge auctioneers and valuers of Macclesfield on August 13.
The song, originally recorded in 1955, is still sung regularly at Old Trafford, with the famous refrain: ‘Take a lesson, you will see, football taught by Matt Busby’.
The tune first entered the Melody Maker charts in March 1958, in the aftermath of the Munich Air Disaster the preceding month.
The record to be auctioned was printed in 1957 and is lot number 163, valued between £20 to £30.
