ALTRINCHAM Target Sports Centre (ATSC) hosted the Greater Manchester West County Scouts airgun competition over the weekend of January 16 and 17.

Graham Brady, MP for Altrincham and Sale West, and Jo Cherrett, COO of Trafford Leisure, attended the event to award certificates to club members.

Members receiving awards for their shooting achievements included Juniors Ilena Sykes and Mike Chinnery (GB Junior Pistol Squad) and Ian Beeson who captains Urmston Rifle Club (based at Altrincham) in the Preston and District shoulder to shoulder league.

Mike Arnstein, from ATSC, said: “Graham Brady said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience and wished the club well and Jo Cherrett indicated that she might come and shoot regularly as they both enjoyed being able to try shooting target rifle and sporting rifle.

“There were 60 competitors for the Scout team and individual events and despite the cold everyone appeared to enjoy themselves.”

All competitors received a small gift donated by sponsors AirArms and Eley Ltd.

Altrincham Target Sports Centre is one of the biggest sports clubs in the Trafford area and currently has close to 200 members.

The club’s committee are currently working closely with Trafford Leisure and Trafford Council. The club has plans to apply for funding to expand and improve the facilities and equipment to enable it to host more disabled and visually impaired shooters and youngsters in the 14 to 25 age group.

Events are regularly advertised on the club website altrinchamtsc.co.uk.
