AN Altrincham mum who spotted a gap in the travel market for baby and toddler holidays has set up her own online business.
Before establishing the new venture, called Little Clogs Holidays, mum-of-two Laura Riley spent her time speaking with other parents in Altrincham before realising that they were often not getting offered all the family friendly holidays that might appeal to them but closer to home.
She said: “Speaking to many mums, I realised that there was always a bit of an interest when I said we were going on another holiday to Belgium!
“People started telling me they would never have thought about going on a toddler holiday to Belgium and it often came as a surprise when I explained about the massive sandy beaches they have there, the toddler-friendly theme parks and all the things to do for little ones!”
Prior to setting up her business, Laura managed contracts on behalf of Eurocamp, based in Northwich, which involved checking out sites across Europe.
She said: “I spent many a summer travelling around Europe and visiting holiday parks to check their suitability for families with small children
“Part of my job took me to Holland and Belgium and although I was passionate about my career, I decided I had to stop once I had my second child Jonas, almost two, and Amelie, aged three.
"Little Clogs is a really good solution for local families because it’s either a short flight to Amsterdam or Brussels or a few hours drive to the ferry.
"And once over there, the final destination is often a couple of hours of less from the airport/ferry.”
