SALE FC Rugby club have unveiled a commemorative shirt for their remembrance match against Loughborough on Saturday, November 17.
The front of the shirt features the club’s logo alongside the British Legion poppy, and the classic war poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ graces the back of the shirt.
The poem, written by Canadian Major John McCrae in 1915 during the second battle of Ypres, became emblematic of the sacrifices made by soldiers during the First World War.
All profits from shirt sales go to the Royal British Legion.
Dave Hulme, club general manager, said: “We wanted a shirt which would commemorate the centenary in a fitting manner, and the poem in Flanders Fields, seemed to do that perfectly.
“Our first team will be proudly sporting the shirt during their warm-up for the Loughborough Game.”
Sale FC Rugby take on Loughborough Students at the CorpAcq Stadium in Heywood Road on Saturday, November 17.
