URMSTON Leisure Centre will reopen its doors early in 2020 following a major £7 million investment.
The former 1980’s leisure centre has been transformed into a vibrant, modern complex fit for Urmston and wider Trafford community, and is changing its name to reflect its modern facilities, relaunching with the inspiring brand name, move Urmston.
move Urmston’s facilities include a glass façade with seven metre clip n’ climb wall, a large fitness suite with the latest cardio and strength equipment, a functional training zone, modern changing village, three fitness and wellbeing studios, a 25-metre L-shaped swimming pool, a five-court sports hall, brand new café with seating for over 100 people, open throughout the day to members and non-members, two party rooms, a sensory room and a wellbeing assessment suite to help members benefit most from their physical activities.
Jo Cherrett, COO, Trafford Leisure, which manages the leisure centres on behalf of Trafford Council said: “The wait is nearly over! We are so excited to reveal the new name and the fantastic redeveloped fitness and leisure hub to the public.
“A healthy lifestyle is the foundation to a happy life and our vision is to make Trafford the most active borough in the UK. move Urmston will support the Trafford community to move more every day, making sure our customers have the means to build a strong foundation, not through shortcuts and false promises, but with the support, care and attention of our professional staff.
“Together we can help you move more every day, by understanding what success means individually to each of our customers; from a high intensity work out to a walk in the park. Together, let’s get Trafford moving more. The range of new facilities, classes, services and equipment at move Urmston demonstrate there really is something for everyone.”
To celebrate the opening of move Urmston early next year, Trafford Leisure is inviting the public to ‘sneak preview’ the new facilities online at: https://moveurmston.co.uk/move-urmston-is-coming
A limited number of discounted pre-opening memberships will be on offer. Reserve your place on the website by completing a short online form and be the first to hear about the pre-opening memberships when they are released for sale in mid-January. Existing customers of Urmston Leisure centre and George H Carnall, who have been patient and loyal whilst works have been carried out, will not miss out either.
Jo Cherrett said: “Membership offers for new customers will be tailored to fit individual and family requirements and will not penalise or exclude anyone. If you are single, or childless or have more than two children, same sex partnerships, or simply a group of friends - all are included”
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Leisure, said: “I’m very excited about the new opening and look forward to visiting with my own family. Health and wellbeing is a massive priority for both Trafford Leisure and Trafford Council and the new-look centre is a great asset to the area at large
“Please have a look at our fantastic new facilities – we have flexible memberships to suit everyone from, the fitness conscious to those who’ve never stepped inside a leisure centre before. We are here to help everyone move more.”
