The fire service have been tackling a huge fire at a three-storey unoccupied building throughout this morning.
Fire crews were called to Chester Road in Stretford at around 3.50am this morning after reports of a fire at an empty building.
Eight fire engines and other specialist appliances were rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.
Road closures were put in place and local residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed and to avoid the area.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue updated this morning, saying: "Crews have been battling the fire in Stretford through the morning and five fire engines remain at the scene. Firefighters are now working internally to extinguish the flames and are likely to be in attendance for the next few hours.
"Smoke levels have been reduced, however the road closure is still in place. As this incident is close to Old Trafford Stadium, we recommend that anyone attending the football match at 12:30 should allow plenty of travel time."
Manchester United have also urged fans to allow extra-time to get to the ground due to traffic delays.
