A man exposed himself to a teenage girl while she was walking to her school in Stretford.
Police revealed today that around 8.50am last Friday, 11 January, the 15-year-old girl was walking along Malvern Avenue in Flixton, near Flixton Girl's School, when she and her friend saw an old-style blue Volkswagen Golf pull up.
The girl then saw the driver expose himself, before he drove off.
He is described as white, in his late 20s and of scruffy appearance with wild, scruffy hair.
Police are appealing to anyone who might have seen a man matching this description, or who has any information about this incident, to come forward.
Sergeant Jane Curran, of the Urmston Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "Without wanting to worry people unnecessarily, I do want to warn members of the public about this incident and ask for their help in identifying the person responsible.
"In this case, the young girl did exactly the right thing by informing her family and police straight away.
"I would like to encourage all parents in the area to have a talk with their children about general safety issues and to keep an eye out for anybody behaving suspiciously in the area."
Anybody with any information about this man is asked to contact the Urmston Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 7680 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
The police have issued this general safety advice for pedestrians: Stick to bright, well-lit and busy areas.
Try to walk in groups.
Avoid walking next to bushes and buildings.
If somebody tries to grab you, it is best to shout loudly or scream and run away.
Report the incident to a parent or teacher as soon as possible.
