Manchester Airport is to close Runway 2 for three weeks to carry out routine maintenance work.
Runway 2 - Manchester's second runway- will be closed from February 5th to February 29th to allow for scheduled engineering work. All aircraft will take off and land on Runway 1 during the closure, which has been planned to coincide with the Airport's quietest period.
Manchester Airport's Managing Director Andrew Cornish said: "This is important but routine engineering work and we have chosen to do this during February which is traditionally a quieter time before the busy summer period.
"We hope to be able to manage all the aircraft on Runway 1 and don't expect this work to cause any significant delays. We're firmly committed to maintaining our high levels of service to both passengers and airlines and are mindful of the impact on the community."
