A substantial amount of money has been stolen during a robbery outside a post office in south Manchester.
Police have revealed today that they are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 11.45am on Monday 14 January, on Wendover Road, Brooklands.
Two women drove to the post office to bank the weekend takings from the One Stop Shop in Northern Moor and parked in front of the shops on Wendover Road.
The passenger had the cash in her handbag on her knee and as they parked up a man walked passed the car before quickly turning back, opening the passenger door and grabbing the bag.
The victim held onto the bag and there was a brief struggle with the offender who demanded her to hand it over. He then punched the woman in the face and ran off with the bag towards the Wendover pub and down Ferndown Road.
The offender is believed to have got into a red car driven by another man on Ferndown Road and they drove off towards Wythenshawe Road.
The victim was not injured but was left very shaken by the ordeal.
The offender is described as white, 5ft 2in tall, aged about 20 years, of medium build. He had brown hair and was wearing a black long sleeved hooded top with the hood pulled up.
Anyone with any information about the incident, or who may have seen the offender running away or getting into a red car is asked to call Wythenshawe CID on 0161 856 4845 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
