UPDATE - MANY commuters face a second day of traffic misery tomorrow.
And there is a floodwatch issued by the Environment Agency warning with areas at risk including land at Chorlton and Sale Water Parks, footpaths, car park and golf course. It also includes Deckers restaurant, Water Park offices, Fairways Farm, Jacksons Boat Public House and Rutlands lane
The road was closed between Flixton Road and Moss Lane in Partington after a drain collapsed on private land opposite Vicarage Garden Centre and caused the road to flood.
Highway chiefs warn that the A6144 Manchester Road, in Carrington, will remain closed for the rest of today.
It is anticipated the road will not be re-opened until the water has been discharged from the carriageway - and this could be well into the day on Tuesday at the earliest.
Motorists are advised to divert along Moss Lane, Sinderland Lane, Sinderland Road, A56 Manchester Road, Washway Road, Harboro Way, Harboro Road, Carrington Lane and vice versa.
