UPDATE - the A6144 Manchester Road, in Carrington, has reopened this morning.
The road was closed on Monday after a drain collapsed on private land and caused the road to flood.
Although the drain is the responsibility of the landowner, Trafford Council stepped in to offer support and secured an industrial pump to pump away the water.
Council teams worked late into last night to make sure the road could be reopened today.
Firefighters came to the rescue yesterday morning after a Vauxhall Vectra got stuck in the flood. The car and its occupants - which included a seven-month-old baby - were moved to safety.
