THE Altrincham and East Didsbury tram lines are returning to normal service following a power outage in the Trafford area on Tuesday night.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said power had returned to the affected parts of the network and test trams had successfully been sent through the area.

There will still be some delays until a full service is restored and TfGM said passengers should look for updates on their social media pages and website.

Tickets will still be accepted on replacement bus services, commercial buses and rail services.

The damaged equipment will be looked at as part of an investigation into what the underlying cause was.

Tickets are being accepted on the following buses:

  • Altrincham line – Bus ticket acceptance on the 11, 23, 245, 255, 256, 263
  • East Didsbury line – Bus ticket acceptance on the 23, 41, 42, 43, 85, 86, 101, 103, 142, 143
  • Airport line – Bus ticket acceptance on the 11, 41, 43, 101, 103

Alex Cropper, Head of Operations at TfGM, said: “I would like to reiterate our apologies to everyone whose journeys were affected by the issues on Metrolink, both last night and today.

“Engineers have successfully repaired the damage to overhead lines after working throughout the night and morning, but some delays are expected while the operator returns a full service on the lines."
