A POPULAR pasta restaurant is set to open in Sale after a crowdfunding campaign raised more than £100,000 in 30 days.
The team at Sugo Pasta Kitchen took to social media to announce the restaurant in Stanley Square is opening on April 26.
Alex and Michael de Martiis, brothers and co-owners of the business, set up a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter towards the end of last year with the aim of starting a third site in Sale to add to ones in Altrincham and Ancoats.
They gave themselves 30 days to raise £85,000, but raised £90,000 in a little over a week and ended up with an enormous £104,040 from more than 1,000 supporters.
At the time, a post on social media said: "WOW. We can now say with 100 per cent certainty we are going to open a Southern Italian Pasta Kitchen in Stanley Square.
"None of this is possible without the unwavering support we have received from you guys, not only on the Kickstarter but since we first opened in Altrincham."
And another post on Kickstarter itself said: "I am not sure how we can thank you enough for your support – BONKERS!
"We cannot wait to get started in Sale. We will repay your faith and commitment to us with a Southern Italian Pasta Kitchen you can be proud to call your own."
Supporters of the crowdfunding campaign received rewards relative to the size of their contributions, such as their name on a so-called Founders Wall or a three-course meal at Sugo Pasta Kitchen.
Three who contributed £1,000 or more are entitled to unlimited House Sugo, one of the restaurant's signatures, for a year.
Meanwhile, one who contributed £5,000 or more is entitled to an exclusive event for themselves and up to 20 other people.
When Sugo Pasta Kitchen opens on April 26, it is offering 40 per cent off all bills for three days in what it describes as a stress test for the restaurant, although the three days are already fully booked.
