A man stabbed to death on a night out in Altrincham died of a single wound to the neck, an inquest has heard.
Rico Burton was involved in an incident on Goose Green in the early hours of August 21 and died a short time later at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
At the opening of an inquest at Stockport Coroner's Court this week, the court heard how the 31-year-old from Stones Meadow, Carrington, died of a single wound to the neck.
A cousin of the boxer Tyson Fury, he was identified by another family member at Manchester Royal Infirmary and his funeral was held at St Michael's Church on September 1.
A 21-year-old man, Liam O'Pray, has been charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm after a teenager was also stabbed in the incident.
The teenager, a 17-year-old boy, received life-changing injuries.
O'Prey appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court, and he is now set to appear at Manchester Crown Court on October 21. He has not entered a plea to the charges.
As a result of these criminal proceedings, coroner Adrian Farrow was not able to set a date for the inquest to come to its conclusion. He adjourned it until a review next year.
Mr Farrow said: "Due to the pending criminal proceedings, it is not possible or proper for me to set a date for an inquest."
When Mr Burton died, Tyson Fury made an impassioned plea to the authorities to crack down on knife crime, which he called 'a pandemic'.
In a post on social media, he said: "My cousin was murdered last night, stabbed in the neck, this is becoming ridiculous idiots carry knives.
"This needs to stop ASAP, the UK Government needs to bring higher sentencing for knife crime, it's a pandemic and you don't know how bad it is until it's one of your own.
"Life is very precious and it can be taken away very quick enjoy every moment.
"RIP Rico Burton. May the lord god grant you a good place in heaven. See you soon."
A spokesperson for the Prime Minister offered their condolences to Tyson Fury and the rest of Mr Burton's family, but defended the UK Government's approach to knife crime.
