Road users have been warned to expect delays after a motorway crash.
The crash was reported at around 11.25am on Sunday morning between Junction 10 and Junction 11 on the M62 eastbound.
As a result, two of the four lanes were closed with up to three miles of congestion building up.
A statement from National Highways North West said: “Two lanes of four are closed on the M62 eastbound in Cheshire between J10, for the M6, and J11, Birchwood, due to a collision.
“Emergency services and our traffic officers are on scene.
“There's a 20 minute delay on approach with three miles of congestion.”
The highways authority announced around 20 minutes later that the crash itself had been cleared but warned people travelling on the motorway that they should still expect delays and that they should allow extra time for their journeys.
Traffic is expected to ease into Sunday afternoon.
A statement from National Highways North West said: “This incident has cleared, and all lanes have now re-opened on the M62 eastbound in Cheshire between J10, for the M6, and J11, Birchwood.
There's approximately two miles of congestion in the area but this should now start to ease.”
Anyone who witnesses a road accident is urged to call 999 as soon as possible.
