A warning for ice has been issued in Trafford with temperatures set to plummet.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for ice that will come into effect from 6pm today (Sunday) until 10pm on Monday.

The forecaster has said that from 6pm icy surfaces are expected to develop following wintry showers leading to some difficult travelling conditions.

It warns there will probably be some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, and there is a risk of injury from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

 

In Trafford today, showers, will start to affect western coasts into the late afternoon. It will be windy at first, but the wind will ease by the afternoon. The maximum temperature is set to set be 6C.

From tonight, showers will become more widespread, and these will be falling as snow over high ground and maybe even to low levels in heavier bursts. The minimum temperature will be-2C.

After a frosty morning it will be a widely dry day on Monday with plenty of sunny spells. It is set to feel cold with light winds. The maximum temperature will be 4C.

From Tuesday to Thursday, it will remain cold with frosty nights. There will be a mixture of sunny spells and showers, falling as sleet or snow at times but increasingly confined to coasts.

It set to become milder into Thursday.
