Dozens of roads and pathways in Trafford are due to be transformed over the next few weeks as part of an improvement scheme across the borough.
Essential maintenance work is taking place across Trafford's road network in April and May this year.
It is estimated some 70 roads will be improved with repair work to surfaces, which prevents potholes and cracks forming, while some footway paths will also be improved.
Trafford Council said affected residents will be contacted about the potential disruption.
Some of the roads earmarked for improvement are:
- Hale Road A538
- Norris Road
- Brooklands
- The A56, junction 7 M60
- Lulworth Avenue
- Shawe Road
- Debenham Road/Moss Park Road/Brasfield Road
- Stretford and Windermere Road
Various pathways along Firs Road and the A56 in Broadheath will also be improved.
The council said the work is expected to take eight weeks but the schemes are all weather dependent.
Most of the highways will receive surface dressing - a preventative treatment to waterproof the existing surface and provide additional skid resistance.
This will also help to prevent cracks and potholes from occurring, continuing to keep the road in a good condition for years to come.
Others will have different treatment methods applied, depending on the needs of individual roads as some may need resurfacing or reconstruction treatment.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, the council’s executive member for environmental services, said: “I’m delighted that Trafford Council is continuing to invest in the road network – one of the borough’s most valuable assets.
"Continuing to do so is transforming journeys and enabling our communities to thrive and to connect.
“Any residents or businesses who may be affected by upcoming roadworks will be contacted directly by the highways team.
"Residents may receive a letter with details of individual schemes on their road or in some cases, a visit from a member of staff.
"Any diversions or temporary traffic lights will be signposted ahead of scheduled scheme start date so that everyone can plan their journeys.”
