Trafford's parks are flying 'green flags' for the fifth year in a row this year in recognition of being some of the "finest" green spaces around the world.
More than 10 parks and green spaces in Trafford have been given a prestigious accolade in the form of a green flag.
The green flag awards are given to the best green spaces in the world, measured against a specific set of criteria such as the aesthetics of the park, horticulture, biodiversity and community involvement.
The 11 parks in Trafford which have received the award include Davyhulme Park, Denzell Gardens, Flixton Gardens, Hullard Park, John Leigh Park, Lostock Park, Victoria Park, Walkden Gardens, Walton Park, Woodheys Park and Worthington Park.
The One Trafford Partnership and volunteers from the Friends of Parks groups have been working in collaboration for a number of years to ensure the green flag standards are met consistently at the spaces throughout the year.
Congratulating the achievement, Paul Todd MBE, Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, said: "I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Trafford in achieving a Green Flag Award.
"These parks are a vital green space for the community in Trafford, bringing people together and providing opportunities to lead healthy lifestyles.
"The staff and volunteers do so much to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award, and everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement."
Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, Councillor Stephen Adshead, added: "I am thrilled to hear that Trafford has secured all 11 Green Flag Awards for a fifth consecutive year.
"Through the collaborative efforts of One Trafford and Friends, we have achieved some of the UK top spaces for all to enjoy right here in Trafford.
"These spaces are not only important to our community's wellbeing but our environmental wellbeing too – with biodiverse wildflower meadows and improved habitats for wildlife.
"As a Council, we are continuing to invest in our parks and green spaces, with more schemes due to be delivered through the financial year including Stamford Park, Abbotsfield Park and Hullard Park.”
Executive Member for Communities and Safety, Councillor Rose Thompson, also said: "The success of these Green Flag parks is a testament to the strong partnerships and collaborative efforts between the One Trafford Partnership, Friends of Parks groups, and the local community.
"The support of the community and the volunteers means we are able to create safe, inclusive and beautiful spaces for everyone in our neighbourhoods to enjoy.”
