A popular homeware design company previously based at an Altrincham Market stall is opening the doors to its first permanent shop in Sale.
The Sculpts is welcoming customers to its new store within the recently regenerated shopping and dining centre at Stanley Square today (Friday).
The company was founded in 2020 during the Covid lockdown by illustrator and architect Richard Bennett and his partner Jade King and has been a popular presence at Altrincham Market since March 2022.
Jade and Richard started off selling a range of handmade ‘Manchester’ tiles, one for each letter of the city’s name, with each six-inch by six-inch tile depicting a different stage in Manchester’s transformation – from post-industrial depression to a technological and cultural force to be reckoned with.
Now the business has grown and stocks a range of homewares, prints, and textiles.
Fans include BBC Radio 2 DJ and musician, Mark Radcliffe who owns the full range of 10 ‘Manchester’ tiles, and the recently created ‘Treble’ tile, celebrating Manchester City Football Club’s historic treble success.
Jade said: “We are thrilled to be joining some of the best eateries and independent retailers at Stanley Square.
“Richard grew up in Sale and, with family still living here, it makes it even more special to be part of the community.
"We can’t wait to open the doors and offer our customers a retail experience they won’t forget.”
To celebrate the opening the first 20 customers at The Sculpts store today (Friday), will get a special goody bag as a thank you gift.
In addition, every customer this weekend, from today until Sunday, July 30 will, get 10 per cent off their purchases at the Sale shop.
This year will also see the company expand further, with two new designs of homeware, which are expected to be available across the UK later this year.
The Sculpts is open from 10am today (Friday) and from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, July 29 and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, July 30.
