A 54-year-old woman died after she was struck by a tanker on the M6 motorway.
The emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway after Junction 26, Orrell Interchange, on the morning of August 20.
They established a 54-year-old woman died after she was struck by a tanker. The driver stopped at the scene to assist the investigation.
The M6 motorway was shut on its northbound carriageway for around 12 hours.
On August 20, Chief Inspector Simon Owen said: "We can confirm a woman died following a collision on the M6 this morning and our thoughts are with the family. Her next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist Family Liaison Officers.
"An investigation into the collision has been launched and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to please contact us. Any footage, or information, could be vital in establishing what happened."
