The Section 60 powers have been introduced after an assault last night at a premises in Manchester’s Green Quarter.
The powers began at 9:30pm yesterday evening (Saturday 2 September) and will finish at 9.30pm this evening.
There will be further consideration around any necessity for an extension of this power nearer the time of expiry.
Roads included within this Section 60 perimeter are Mancunian way, Princess Road, Bridgewater way, Parkway, Chester Road, M60, Princess Road.
Superintendent Chris Foster of GMP said: “We understand the use of a Section 60 can cause concern to residents; however, we use these powers only when proportionate and necessary.
"By enforcing the Section 60 in the area, we will work to minimise any violent behaviour in the area and prevent any further violence going forward.
"Our main priority is to keep the public safe and we have deployed extra officers around the local area to help provide reassurance in your communities.
"Our officers are more than happy to provide a listening ear to any concerns or information you may have about any crimes or issues in your community.”
