World famous tea company Lipton Teas and Infusions gave away hundreds of varieties of its tea to some of the most needy in Trafford over the Christmas period.
The Trafford-Park based company, owners of the PG Tips brand, gifted four pallets worth of tea bags to the Sale West and Partington Hideaway community hubs for distribution to the other four hubs and residents ahead of Christmas.
The community hubs are a partnership with Trafford Council, housing association L&Q and other partners from across the borough.
They were set up to respond to community needs during Covid but are now helping people across the borough through the cost-of-living crisis.
The tea was a huge boost to the hubs and was served up to struggling residents to enjoy their brews for free.
Ruth Lancey, from Partington Hideaway community hub, said: “Thank you so much to Lipton Teas and Infusions for this amazing act of kindness. Many of our residents are really struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and prices that are rising all the time.
"It’s fantastic that a locally based company this size has come to our aid. This will make a huge difference.”
Cllr Rose Thompson, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Safety, said: “The Trafford community hubs are doing a brilliant job helping residents across all of our communities in the borough.
"They are providing help and advice to those who need it most along with providing warm spaces, food banks and fuel support.
"This is a lovely gesture from LIPTON Teas and Infusions and means hundreds of families can now look forward to receiving free tea. Thank you very much again.”
A spokesperson for LIPTON Teas and Infusions said: “We recognise the massive importance of the Trafford Community hubs to the communities they serve across Trafford.
"As a company firmly based in Trafford we always look to support such initiatives in the borough. We are delighted to have been able to help the hubs through our tea donation and thank them for all their hard work in supporting residents.”
