A man was charged with murder in connection with the shooting of a man discovered dead almost a decade ago in Urmston.
Andre Marshall, from Whalley Range, was discovered dead in a car park close to St Clement's Church on May 20, 2015.
Abdul Ahsan, previously of Upper Chorlton Road, Old Trafford, but now of no fixed address, was a suspect at the time and this week he was extradited from Pakistan to the UK escorted by a team from the Joint International Crime Centre to be charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
He remains in custody and he is set to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
Detective Chief Inspector Gina Brennand of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: "This charge is an important development in the investigation into the death of Andre Marshall. I would like to thank our colleagues in the National Crime Agency and the Pakistan Federal Investigation Agency, and the UK Crown Prosecution Service, who have all worked together to facilitate this progress in our investigation.
"GMP continues the pursuit to finding justice for Andre’s family."
A year after Mr Marshall was discovered dead Danial Shahid, of Carlton Street, Old Trafford, was sentenced to four years in prison for assisting an offender.
Kadell Rivers, of Skelton Road, Stretford, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for assisting an offender and possession of an offensive weapon.
