A car which was going half the national speed limit on the motorway, has been seized in Trafford.
A Greater Manchester Police (GMP) traffic patrol unit said officers pulled an elderly driver over in Trafford Park, after they were clocked driving approximately 35mph on the M60 yesterday.
The motorist was identified by officers to be driving on a revoked/refused licence and their Renault Captur was seized by police, who drove its owner home.
Officers seized the car on section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1998, which means an officer has reasonable grounds to believe that the driver was uninsured or was not driving in accordance with their driving licence.
It comes two weeks after North West Motorway Police pulled over a BMW driver who, unlike the Renault driver, joined the M60 at an excessive speed.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, GMP Traffic said: "This BMW driver joined the M60 in Oldham at excess speed, flashing his headlights at other motorists to move them out of the way.
"He then got 'lit up' by the motorway sergeant who was on hand to witness the events. Already on nine points, a day out in court awaits."
