A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with "major trauma" after he was hit by an HGV in Timperley.
The emergency services were called to the area of Manchester Road at around 10.45am on Monday.
According to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with "major trauma" after he was hit by an HGV close to the railway bridge.
Manchester Road was closed to all traffic between its junctions with Sinderland Road and with Stamford Brook Road into the afternoon to allow for an investigation.
Yesterday (March 5) police appealed for information about the incident including the identity of the man injured in the incident. The driver stayed at the scene and there are no arrests at this time.
Sergeant Louise Warhurst, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "He is receiving the best treatment possible but we have not been able to identify the man nor to find his next of kin."
A spokesperson for the North West Air Ambulance Charity said: "We can confirm the North West Air Ambulance Charity was called to an incident in Altrincham on March 4, H72 responded."
