Police reminded residents of legislation on dangerous dogs after they seized an animal in Sale.
GMP Trafford revealed the seizure of the animal with a post on social media on Wednesday.
The post on social media did not refer to the breed but it did refer to legislation on dangerous dogs introduced to include XL Bullies. From January 1 this year, it became an offence to have an XL Bully in public without a lead or a muzzle and, from February 1 this year, it became an offence to have an XL Bully without a certificate of exemption.
Any breach is punishable by prosecution and the seizure of the animal which, if it is deemed a danger, is destroyed.

The post on social media said: "I encourage you to all remind yourselves of the legislation around dangerous dogs introduced this year, 2024.
"[GMP Trafford Neighbourhood Team] will continue to execute warrants on those in possession of dangerous dogs."
