Firefighters battled a blaze in a terrace of properties in Partington.

They were called to the area of Hardwick Road at 11.45am today.

According to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), firefighters from five fire stations in Greater Manchester and one fire station in Cheshire battled a blaze in a terrace of properties in the town. It is understood there were no serious injuries from the fire.

They were on the scene into the afternoon asking residents to avoid the area to allow them to work.

A GMFRS spokesperson said: "At shortly after 11.45am today five fire engines from Altrincham, Agecroft, Sale, Stretford, and Hollins fire stations alongside a fire engine from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire involving mid-terraced houses on Hardwick Road. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire and to stop it from spreading to more properties.

"Crews remain in attendance alongside partner agencies and people are asked to avoid the area while work continues."
