Four men have been arrested in connection with a fight in Bury town centre in the early hours of today, Sunday.

Officers were called to the reports on Silver Street at around 3.15am.

One man suffered an injury, which is not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A cordon was put in place and was lifted just after 1pm with shop workers nearby confirming they had seen the police but were unsure why they were in the area.

Police say they have arrested four men aged between 21 and 29 and they remain in custody for questioning.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers responded to reports of a fight on Silver Street at around 3.15am this morning (May 12).

“One man sustained an injury not believed to be life-changing or threatening.

“Four males aged between 21 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

“They remain in custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.”

The incident comes a week after a man in his 20s was arrested in connection with a stabbing outside a bar on Silver Street.

The emergency services attended the area of Silver Street at 12.40am on Sunday, May 5.

On arrival two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
