The Altrincham site is the last one left for a popular pasta restaurant with four sites as recently as the start of 2024.

Rigatoni's, previously SUD Pasta and Sugo Pasta, confirmed the closure of its Ancoats site on Monday (May 20).

It comes after the closure of a restaurant in Sale's Stanley Square, and a restaurant in the city centre's Exhibition Hall, all of them in a little over 100 days.

The Altrincham site, on Shaw's Road, is the last one left for a popular pasta restaurant which reopened after a rebrand as Rigatoni's at the turn of the year.

A post by Alex de Martiis, a co-owner with Michael de Martiis, said: "The last 12 months have been brutal to say the least. We have been on a mission to try to make our restaurants sustainable – for us, for our customers and for our staff – in what has felt like an uphill battle in the midst of conditions not unique to us.

"The latest attempt to do this was in the guise of going all out to create an affordable, accessible but still quality product to be replicated across our sites. We now have to accept we have failed in this mission. The hardest part is we have failed not ourselves, but our customers and our staff, and for this we are truly sorry."

The remaining site is in for another rebrand, albeit not another renaming, as of the start of next month with some of the striking red signage to be removed.

There are to be changes to the menu and other changes like no more deliveries via Deliveroo.

The post by Mr de Martiis said: "Oh, and our dad is coming up to help us make this happen!"

Rigatoni's is open from 12pm to 9.30pm every day apart from Monday.
