A teenager was taken into hospital with a cut to his head after an assault in Urmston.
The emergency services attended Higher Road at around 10pm on Saturday (May 25).
On arrival a teenager was taken into hospital with a cut to his head. His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Police said the young man was in an altercation at a pub on Stretford Road ahead of the assault by three men on bikes.
DCI Nicola Walton, of GMP Trafford, said: "We understand the local community will be shocked but, through initial enquiries, we believe this is targeted with no threat to the wider community.
"As a result we will continue to provide a visible presence in the area in the form of on-foot and vehicle patrols while detectives investigate a thorough timeline of events leading up to this incident.
"So far we are exploring some promising lines of enquiry and we are appealing for any information.
