The Labour Party looks likely to take all three seats in the Borough of Trafford for the first time in its history after the announcement of a general election on July 4.

The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the general election with a sodden speech to the tune of Things Can Only Get Better at 10 Downing Street on May 22.

Currently the Conservative Party and the Labour Party have a hold in the Borough of Trafford as, until the Dissolution of Parliament last month, Conservative MP Sir Graham Brady held Altrincham and Sale West, Labour MP Mike Kane held Wythenshawe and Sale East and Labour MP Andrew Western held Stretford and Urmston.

However the Labour Party looks likely to take all three seats for the first time after last week's YouGov poll showed them taking Altrincham and Sale West too.*

ALTRINCHAM AND SALE WEST
At the last general election Conservative MP Sir Graham Brady won Altrincham and Sale West by a margin of around 6,000 votes.

At this general election the YouGov poll suggests Labour Party candidate Connor Rand will win the seat with 46 per cent of the vote.

WYTHENSHAWE AND SALE EAST
At the last general election Labour MP Mike Kane won Wythenshawe and Sale East by a margin of around 10,000 votes.

At this general election the YouGov poll suggests Mr Kane will win again in what is a safe seat for the Labour Party.

STRETFORD AND URMSTON
At the 2022 by-election Labour MP Andrew Western won Stretford and Urmston by a margin of around 10,000 votes.

At this general election the YouGov poll suggests Mr Western will win again in what is a safe seat for the Labour Party.

The deadline for registration to vote is on June 18 while the deadline to apply for a postal vote is on the following day.

The deadline to apply for a proxy vote is June 26, as is the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate, which is a Voter ID for those without a valid ID such as a licence or a passport.
