The biggest family day out of the summer in Trafford is now less than one month away.
Trafford council and Lancashire Cricket Club are again joining forces to deliver Trafford Live on Sunday, July 7.
This year’s free event is a special family-friendly festival, with Trafford celebrating its 50th birthday as a metropolitan borough and Lancashire Cricket incorporating the Vitality Blast fixture against Worcestershire Rapids (2.30pm start).
Entertainment, activities, sport and culture are among the attractions, with Trafford Live promising something for everyone.
Trafford mayor Amy Whyte said: “I’m very excited. Trafford Live is great fun and it’s fantastic to see so many families there enjoying it. This year’s event promises to be another great occasion and I look forward to meeting you there.”
The joint festival will be held within the grounds of the town hall on Talbot Road and the Fan Village at Emirates Old Trafford and will be open for all to attend.
Visitors can experience a range of events, activities and displays which will all be designed to showcase the borough’s sports, history and culture offering, with a bit of everything for both the young and old to enjoy.
The Emirates Old Trafford Fan Village will be free to enter, with tickets for the Vitality Blast fixture priced at £10 for adults and £5 for juniors. There is also a specific ticket office for Trafford residents with tickets for kids available from £1 and just £10 for adults.
As part of Trafford’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the winner of a 50th birthday card competition will be announced. The birthday cards created by the children will also be on display during the event.
Lancashire Cricket Club chief executive Daniel Gidney said: “We are thrilled to be teaming up with Trafford Council to get involved with Trafford Live once again. We have a fantastic relationship with the Council and we’re really looking forward to being part of this long-standing family event for a fourth time as we focus on making cricket more accessible to our community.
“It is a brilliant event for the people of Trafford to attend and a great opportunity for them to get behind their local side. We hope to welcome even more residents through the gates of Emirates Old Trafford this year and watch both our men’s and women’s teams in action on the day, and also in the future.”
Trafford Live will run from 11am to 2pm and includes the following zones:
Armed Forces – Celebrate the contribution to Trafford of the Armed Forces; Stall Zone – Celebrate Trafford’s diverse communities and find out how to get involved in your neighbourhood in the Sunken Gardens; Children’s Activity Zone – A chance to join in the fun with Trafford Libraries and local studies; Entertainment Zone – Local performers will showcase Trafford’s vibrant artistic talent at the Civic Hall; Sports Zone – an opportunity to join in the fun activations with the cricket foundation and meet the mascots.
