A motorcyclist who crashed into the central reservation died at the scene in Salford.
The emergency services attended Albion Way at around 6pm on Saturday (June 22).
The police said a motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man on a Kawasaki motorcycle, was in tandem with another motorcycle on the carriageway towards Salford Crescent when he crashed into the central reservation. Today, Sunday, they said he died at the scene.
A 38-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is in custody to be interviewed.
Sergeant Matthew Waggett, from Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who lost his life in this collision. We thank those who stopped at the scene to help to care for the victim.
"The investigation is in its early stages and whilst we seek to understand the cause of the collision we ask anybody who saw the incident or who captured the motorcycles in the locality around this time to come forward to help us understand what occurred."
