The armed police attended a residential street after a dog attacked another dog in Sale.

They attended the junction of Washway Road and Urban Road at around 3.20pm today.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said a dog attacked another dog and a man was injured in a fall in the incident.

There were armed police as well as other police and an ambulance which took the man to hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.

The offending dog was seized and the other dog was taken to a vet.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At 3.20pm this afternoon we were called to reports of concern for welfare of a man on Washway Road in Sale.

“Initial enquiries suggest that a dog has attacked another dog, and as a result, a man has fallen over. His injuries are thankfully not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

“The dog that was attacked has been taken to the vets for further treatment. The offending dog has been contained and seized by police.”
